OVERVIEW

Dynamically send your contacts to different landing/thank you pages based on criteria you define. It also combines the functionality of Action Links and allows you to apply atag to contacts based on that same criteria.

Smart Links Configuration Options

First Rule Setup

In this section, you will find the options for building your Smart Links tool. Follow along in your PlusThis app, or by viewing the numbered step in the screenshots.

Redirect your contact to the following address:

Enter the URL that you would like your contact sent to if they meet the criteria you set up for this Rule.

Apply a tag to the contact when this rule is met?

By default this option is set to "No". If you would like to apply a tag when this rule is met, switch this toggle over to "Yes" and select the tag that you would like to apply.

Add a New Condition Group

If you would like to add a new condition, click the button and select one of the following where you'll pick what your conditions are for meeting this rule. :
- Condition based on: Field Value
- Condition based on: Tags
- Condition based on: Email Status
- Condition based on: Date
- Condition based on: Number of records with a tag 

Condition based on: field Value

Condition (field based value)

Select the field you would like to evaluate in this condition.

Operator

Select the operator that you would like to use to evaluate the field.

Value

Enter the value that you would like to use in tandem with the operator to evaluate the field

In the drop-down, select if you would like to check if the contact has/doesn't have the tag in the next selector.

In the drop-down, select the tag that you would like to check.

Select the time condition that you would like to compare when the Smart Link is clicked against.

Select from the drop-down, where you would like to get the date from.

Based on where you picked to get the date from, the configurations of step 3 may look slightly different. Fill out/pick the options provided based on your date selection.

Select tag to count

In the drop-down, select which tag you want to count.

If the number of contacts with the selected tag is...

In the drop-down, select the inequality that you would like to use to evaluate the number of contacts with the tag.

Enter the # you would like the inequality to evaluate against.

New Rule +

Fallback Settings & Save

Fallback URL (if no rules are met)

Enter a URL for your contacts to be sent to if none of the above configured rules are met.

Apply a tag if none of the rules are met

By default, this toggle will be set to "No", however, if you would like to apply a tag when someone is sent to the fallback URL (ie. No rules are met), then switch this toggle over to "yes" and select which tag you would like applied.

Pass contact details to page

By default, this toggle is set to "Yes". If you do not want to pass the contact details through the Smart Link to the final page, switch this toggle to "No".

Tool Name

Enter a name for your tool in this field. The name is solely for use inside of PlusThis, and will not be visible to customers.

"Need to Know" Items for Smart Links

Rules
All rules contain a redirect URL, an action (optional), and one or more groups. Rules are evaluated in order from top to bottom.
In order for a rule to be evaluated as true, one of the groups inside that rule must be true. It can be any of the groups within that rule.

Groups
Each group contains one or more conditions. In order for the group to be evaluated as true, all of the conditions must be true. Groups are evaluated in order from top to bottom. If any of the groups evaluate to true, the rule will evaluate to true.

Conditions
Conditions contain the parameters for whatever comparison it is you want to accomplish with the contact.

Hyperlink

Link the Smart Link to text in your Ontraport emails to send contacts to different pages depending on data in their contact record.

Copy the Tool URL from the ‘Usage & Instructions’ page.

Open the email you would like to place the Smart Link in.

Highlight the text you’d like to hyperlink the Smart Link to, and click the Link icon in the tool bar above.

Thank You Page URL

Use a Smart Link as a thank you page to redirect contacts to different pages depending on the choices made in the webform.

On the Usage and Instructions page, copy the URL under the ‘Ontraport Thank You Page’ tab.

In Ontraport, open your smartform settings, and check ‘Custom URL’. Paste the URL in the box to the right of the check box.

In the advanced settings of the Smart Form, be sure to check the ‘Pass CGI variables to Landing/Thank you page’.

ImageSMS

Add the Smart Link to a PlusThis SMS tool to send contacts to different pages depending on data in their contact record.

Copy the Tool URL from the ‘Usage & Instructions’ page.

Open the SMS tool you’d like to place the Smart Link in.

Paste the link in the body of the SMS Message.

IMPORTANT: Do not shorten the link if you are placing this in an SMS message - this will cause the link to not work.
