Create urgency by placing a countdown timer on your order forms sales/web pages or in Emails.

Countdown Timer Configuration Options

Select your Countdown Options

The first step of the tool configuration is to select what type of Countdown Timer you would like to create.  Follow along with the option you would like to create in the sections below

Countdown Options

Select your countdown type:
- If you would like to use The Date and Time Found in a contact's field
- If you would like to use A Fixed Date and Time
- If you would like to use Countdown for a specific amount of time

The Date and Time Found in a contact's field

This will create a countdown that will count down until the date/time found in a contact's field.

Select which field you would like to use in the countdown in the dropdown provided.

Select what time you would like the countdown to end (or leave blank to use the time found in the field.

Select which timezone you'd like to use for the countdown.

A Fixed Date and Time

This will create a countdown that will count down until the date/time that you specify in our field.

In the field titled "When?" select the date and time you'd like to count down to.

Select which timezone you'd like to use for the countdown.

Countdown for a specific amount of time

This will create a countdown that will count down for a specific amount of time after a page with the timer is loaded

Select the duration of the countdown in Days, Hours and/or Minutes

Redirect Set-Up

Redirect when the countdown expires: (optional)

This is an optional configuration option, however if you would like the page to redirect to a different page when the countdown expires, enter the URL you would like people to be sent to in this field. 

*Note* The redirecting does not work in an email embed, and will only work for countdowns embedded on websites.

Font and Color

Select which font type and color you would like your countdown to utilize.

Labels

You can check the box labeled "Don't Show Labels in Countdown" to remove all labels from the countdown timer. By default, this box is not checked. 

You can also enter any alternate text you would like displayed instead of the provided labels. This is useful if your customer base are not native English speakers.

Update Preview

Clicking this will allow you to see a preview of the countdown with your personalized selections made above.

Tool Name

Enter a name for your tool in this field. The name is solely for use inside of PlusThis, and will not be visible to customers.

Implementation Types

My Website

Display a Countdown Timer on your website.

On the Usage and Instructions page, copy the code under the ‘My Website’ tab.

Embed the code in an HTML element on your page where you would like the Countdown Timer to display.

Be sure to pass contact details to the page the Countdown Timer is embedded on. You can do this using the link generator, or by passing details through an Ontraform submission.

Thank You Page

Display a Countdown Timer on your Ontraport Hosted Thank You Page/Landing Page.

On the Usage and Instructions page, copy the code under the ‘Ontraport Thank You Page’ tab.

In Ontraport, open your smartform settings, ‘Use this Landing page’. Embed the code in an HTML element on the Landing page.

In the advanced settings of the Smart Form, be sure to check the ‘Pass CGI variables to Landing/Thank you page’.

Email

Send a Countdown Timer through Ontraport's Email Builder.

On the Usage and Instructions page, copy the Custom Image embed code under the ‘Ontraport Advanced HTML Email Builder’ tab.

Open the Ontraport Raw HTML Email Editor.

Click ‘Source’ in the body editor, and paste in the code.

Click Save.

IMPORTANT: When testing this tool, be sure to send the email to yourself the same way your contacts’ would receive it. If you use the ‘Send Test’ option in the email, no contact details will be found, and the timer will not display properly.

Note: The “Countdown for a specific amount of time’ is not an option in emails.

PilotPress

Display a Countdown Timer on your Pilot Press Page.

Embed the code in an HTML element on your page where you would like the Countdown Timer to display.
